Acclaimed composer and song-writer Alan Menken was moved and speechless after a magic ride of concert festivities that culminated with standing ovations by Viennese audiences, while he received the Max Steiner Achievement Award by the City of Vienna. The award was handed to Alan by Viennese City Councillor Peter Hanke and Hollywood in Vienna Founder Sandra Tomek. The ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Michael Kosarin and musical performers lead by Broadway’s Susan Egan and Adam Jacobs performed during a brilliant and elegant concert in Menken’s honor.

Songwriter extraordinaire Diane Warren and operatic prima donna Anna Netrebko have been named the Laureates for the 2020 Polar Music Prize, to be presented in a ceremony at the Grand Hotel on June 9. The announcement was made Tuesday morning (Feb. 11) at Stockholm City Hall by Alfons Karabuda, chairman of the Polar Music Prize award committee.

The Cinema Audio Society Award for Outstanding Sound Mixing Motion Picture - Live Action was presented to the sound mixing team from “Ford v Ferrari ” Steven A. Morrow CAS, Paul Massey CAS, David Giammarco CAS, Tyson Lozensky, David Betancourt, and Richard Duarte. Top honors for Motion Picture - Animated went to “Toy Story 4” and the sound mixing team of Doc Kane CAS, Vince Caro CAS, Michael Semanick CAS, Nathan Nance, David Boucher, and Scott Curtis.

The Motion Picture Sound Editors tonight presented the 67th MPSE Annual Golden Reel Awards at a black-tie ceremony at the Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles. Golden Reel Awards recognizing outstanding achievement in sound editing were presented in 23 categories encompassing feature films, long-form and short-form television, animation, documentaries, games, special venue and other media.
